When it comes to fixing cracked, broken, missing tiles each job is completely different.
Nearly all jobs have to be completed within one day. What would take a tiler 3 days to complete I often have to do within a few hours. I have become quite a specialist at doing these odd fixes.
If the customer doesn’t have spare tiles I recommend customers find the tile they want to put in its place from a tile shop. Sometimes it is impossible to source old tiles that have been discontinued, but by choosing them yourself, you will be better able to determine the end result.
I have multiple ways of removing the old tiles, which may involve chisels, grinders, multitools, a utility knife or, more than likely, a mix of all these.
Once the old tile has been removed, I can cut the new tiles. This takes time as there are different ways and tools to cut the tiles, like a tile cutter, diamond grinder or Dremel rotary tool.
Tiles may need to be chamfered or sanded to make them fit seamlessly with the existing tile work.
I use different types of adhesives to re-adhere the tiles. This will depend on budget, how long I have to do the work and the drying time.
I use tile adhesives, epoxy resins and even construction-grade polymers, depending on where the tile is going to be, how much wear and tear it will exposed to, and the budget.
I do the best I can to match the workmanship and tile. Sometimes you wouldn’t even know I have fixed a tile because it matches everything else perfectly.
