Leaking Shower Base

This job was more cosmetic than a physically leaking shower. You can see in the 'Before' images, the grout was missing around the floor tiles, but the waterproofing was doing its job - water wasn't leaking through the walls or downstairs. 

The customer's partner had tried to fix the deteriorating grout in the base of the shower previously, but it had washed out. I was asked to quote on fixing it properly.

  I removed all the silicone seals around the base of the shower, up the vertical wall joints and where the shower screen meets the tile.

The cement-based grout was removed from the base, around the waste and up to the first tile on the wall. I then treated the shower with a mould-removing cleaning solution, followed with a thorough deep-clean.  I took a quick break for lunch while the room was fan-dried. 

 After lunch, the shower was nice and dry. Time to make it look pretty again. I started by regrouting the walls with premium trade-quality ultra white grout. Leaving that to set, I cleaned the rest of the room and the shower screen.

I then mixed the epoxy grout and applied it to the perimeter of the shower base making an impenetrable, waterproof seal. The epoxy grout was installed around the waste and all the tiles in the base of the shower. The whole area was detailed and sponged clean, removing any epoxy grout haze. Premium bathroom-grate silicone was installed, a final wipe down and clean and done! 

This job took a total of 5 labour-hours and cost the customer $600*
