There were a number of problems I solved on this job, but I'll just focus on mending the broken and drummy tile situation.
This customer called me because his mother was moving out and he was preparing the property to be rented.
As you can see in the pictures the mosaic feature tile was completely falling off in the shower. I addressed this issue while doing a full leaking shower repair.
I removed any loose mosaic tiles until I was certain no more would come loose.
The whole area got a thorough deep clean to eliminate any mould and bacteria. Once the area was dry, I primed the wall where the mosaic tiles had fallen off, and once that was dry, I used a fast drying polymer to reattach the new mosaic tile.
This customer did an amazing job of finding a box of near-perfect replacement for these missing tiles.
Once the mosaics are reattached I regrouted the walls with a premium trade-quality ultra-white grout with added grout booster to give water resistance to stop the mosaics falling off again.
After completing the leaking shower repairs, the overall result was great. Even though the new mosaic tiles weren't an exact match for the old ones, they were close enough to create a lovely, smooth finish, and wouldn't be falling off again anytime soon!
